How long was artie lange on howard stern

In March , a little over a year after leaving prison, Lange assured fans he was determined to stay on the right track this time, despite years and years of struggles with addiction. Instead I cleared my schedule. I'm not sick and i'm not using i'd be in jail if I was. Just have crazy anxiety and i'm fighting it hard. In the past I would have just done drugs and gone to work or cancel last minute but I won't do that now.

I'll be back soon though. Lange spent nearly two months in prison starting in May before heading into an intensive, seven-month drug court program in Hudson County, which he admitted was what saved his life. While the vast majority of Howard's Stern Show staffers have maintained their jobs for decades, some have left the show for various reasons.

For the most part, Stern Show staffers get a lot of room to mess up without getting fired. After all, Howard hasn't even fired the endlessly late writer, Benji Bronk. But Artie Lange was different. Although he wasn't actually fired, Artie wasn't allowed back on the show after some major personal drama in This led to a volatile and near-endless war between the two comic personalities.

And yet, there appears to be a great deal of love and appreciation between them. Here's the truth about Howard and Artie's relationship While there's a lot to be said about Artie's ten-year career on The Howard Stern Show, we simply cannot get into it all here.

For many fans, adding Artie to the Stern Show was one of the best decisions Howard could have made. Artie added a hilariously honest, albeit more politically incorrect element that Howard and his longtime co-host Robin Quivers could play off of. This was during a time where Howard was beginning to go through a personal and creative evolution that resulted in him focusing his show on celebrity interviews and less on bits that a sect of society was offended by.

He's now in treatment for drug addiction. I got my fingers crossed for the guy. It was many years of wanting Artie to get help. Not long afterward, Lange was hospitalized following a suicide attempt in which he drank bleach and plunged a kitchen knife into his stomach several times.

His mother found him passed out in his Hoboken home. I get sad talking about Artie. He was a tremendous contributor.

But we had to move on. And Howard Stern might be more open to the idea than he ever has been. It was his drug addiction that finally forced Howard Stern to kick him off the show in , and Artie has been arrested as recently as January for drug possession.

Artie Lange has always been open and honest about his struggle with drug addiction. In December of , Artie posted a photo of himself to Twitter and shared that his nose has been "hideously deformed due to over three decades of drug abuse. In September, he posted another photo of himself, this time looking like a completely different person.

Lots of new stories to tell. Will announce some new tour dates on Friday. Thanks for the support.
