When do i take vitex

Vitex was as effective as the drug in reducing prolactin levels In another study in 52 women with luteal phase defect, 20 mg of vitex resulted in lower prolactin levels and prolonged menstrual phases, while participants given a placebo saw no benefits Yet another study gave 93 women — who had unsuccessfully tried to become pregnant over the last 6—36 months — a supplement containing Vitex agnus-castus or a placebo. After three months, women in the vitex group experienced an improved hormone balance — and 26 percent of them became pregnant.

In comparison, only 10 percent of those in the placebo group became pregnant Keep in mind that the supplement held a mix of other ingredients, making it difficult to isolate the effects of vitex.

Irregular periods can also hamper women in planning a pregnancy. Three additional studies report that vitex is more effective than a placebo in improving menstrual cycles in women with irregular periods 21 , 22 , Vitex agnus-castus may reduce symptoms of PMS and menopause, though study results are mixed.

By potentially decreasing prolactin hormone levels and stabilizing menstrual periods, it may also enhance fertility. In one study, an extract made from vitex seeds helped repel mosquitoes, flies, ticks, and fleas for about six hours Another study revealed that a spray containing vitex and other plant extracts protected against head lice for at least seven hours Research further shows that vitex may kill lice larva and impede adult lice reproduction 25 , Vitex agnus-castus may offer some protection against insects, particularly mosquitoes, flies, ticks, fleas, and head lice.

That said, research supporting these benefits is limited. More studies are needed before strong conclusions can be drawn. Vitex may offer multiple other benefits, but the evidence is weak.

More research is needed before any claims can be made. Vitex has been traditionally used to treat a wide variety of ailments. However, many of its uses are currently unsupported by scientific evidence. While Vitex agnus-castus is used as an alternative remedy to treat various symptoms, many purported benefits are not backed by research.

Researchers report that 30—40 mg of dried fruit extracts, 3—6 grams of dried herb, or 1 gram of dried fruit per day appear safe 9. Alcohol brings out the needed properties in Vitex much better than water does, which is why tincture is better than chasteberry fertility tea. Though Vitex has amazing benefits, not everyone should take it, as it may not work on everyone.

Some women may need to change certain lifestyle habits before taking this herb. The following women should avoid taking Vitex:. Women who are in their reproductive stage can take Vitex; women from about 18 years of age until perimenopause can derive benefits of this herb. However, Vitex may not treat fertility issues in women over 40, as women of this age reach perimenopause.

Vitex for fertility has been used for a long time now, and there have been very few side effects. However, the following side effects may occur:. Vitex has been used to treat fertility issues in women for a long time now.

There are some women who respond very quickly to the herb, but for others, it takes a while for any effects to be seen. Have patience, and make sure to stick to a healthy and balanced diet in order to ensure that you are doing your best to help the herb work.

Lara, thank you for your wealth of information!! I actually do the 25 on and one week off, method it actually has been helping me tremendously! Dear Lara, regarding high prolactin, do you have any opinions about the treatment with cabergoline? My doctor prescribed me 0,25mg of cabergoline half pill per week for 6 months. I went to your book to check what do you prescribe for high prolactin and found vitex, so I wonder if you know about any cons of cabergoline.

I am currently on a 1mg troche of testosterone per day. Can I use Vitex while taking the testosterone? I took agnucaston just a month bass on irregular menstration. I got some relief from it during meno and had more recently tried taking just a small pinch of dried whole berries daily less has always seemed like more with this herb.

Is it still nourishing to the pituitary gland? Is It vitex combinable with Mirena iud? I have endometriosis and adeno and I have a pelvic cronic pain diary, so my gino recommends It for me.

Please see my post Endometriosis? Treat the immune system. I am wondering if Vitex would be a good addition to my regimen to naturally increase progesterone? If so, how would I take it in combination with the DIM? I did my research on natural remedies for my period that are kidney friendly and I stumbled upon Vitex.

I asked my dr about it and she told me to give it a try. Is there any other advice you could give me. I started Vitex because I have high prolactin and struggle with insomnia from time to time.

Vitex seemed like the perfect solution — lower prolactin and help with sleep, but my insomnia has gotten much worse. Do you think it could be the Vitex, or would it be unrelated? I am a bit confused about what u said that vitex lowers prolactin, thereby increasing progesterone.

Whereas, I have read in other articles that reducing prolactin increases oestrogen.? Also, I have read conflicting info about Shatavari which I am going to try taking soon.

Its all a bit confusing when trying to increase my oestrogen levels…i am looking for a herb that does so. If u can clarify at all, iwoild be grateful.!

I have irregular periods, my average cycle length is 57 days long according to my period tracker. But many months I go without having a cycle, then when it does come it can last anywhere from a few days to literally a few months. I did not have issues with migraine and nausea before. Is is worth continuing the treatment? Is it one of those treatments that you feel worse before getting better?

I am trying to lower my prolactine naturally by using the following herbs, roots and vitamins and minerals:. I am taking them all in liquid tincture form for best possible potency.

In addition, I am taking vitex in tablet form in addition to the vitex liquid. I was wondering if that is ok. Dear Lara, I have high levels of prolaction around range , have regular periods of around days. I am 37 and planning for a pregrancy this summer. My latest 2nd day LH was Which would defeat the purpose of Vitex.

I started vitex for regulating my periods. I am now pregnant. Should I stop taking vitex immediately or wean it off slowly? Or is it ok to keep taking it though out pregnancy? I am scared if i stop it abruptly I might have a miscarriage Please help. I did the same and weaned off slowly. Go down to 1 pill for a week, then every other day, then every 2 days, then stop. I also got a small dose progesterone pill prescribed by doctor to take through 14 weeks, as I was nervous.

We both have low iron stores and are taking an iron supplement. My 16yr old daughter was born with a completely non-functioning pituitary gland and therefore is supplemented artificially with prescription medication. I think we might need your book.

Please I need your help!!! I suffered a brain injury years ago and after my doctor gave me a strong detox supplement called glutathione last year, I experienced massive hemorrhaging and still hemorrhaging to this day. I took that back in June Enough to fill up my long pads stacked on top of each other.

I am anemic so I am close to a blood transfusion with dizziness and heart palps. My condition further deteriorated after a month of high dose birth control back in August First they gave me Prometrium to try but I woke up with the worst hot flash in the world, like I was on fire inside. I am only alive right now because of traditional acupuncture used to stop the bleed each month.

Without it I would bleed for months on end with nonstop. There was no sign of it stopping when I entered her office in desperation last year. Right now progesterone levels is almost none existent at 0. So I am estrogen dominant but low in hormones?? Is it possible that Vitex can make things worse?? I am scared to give it a try but at the same time, I also dont have other options.

What is wrong with me? My system was already screwed up from that brain injury and its like the glutathione was the straw that broke the camels back. Should I try Vitex or give it a few more months for body to rectify itself? Please help…forever grateful. I forgot to add, I only turned 35 last year and my periods were improving before the glutathione mess. After the one month use of high dose birth control pills to stop bleeding, my prolactin was elevated but it has now gone back to 8.

It appears the birth control pills may have shut down my own production of hormones? Or maybe the glutathione caused them to be low?? Lol get educated. I know this is a late response, but for anyone else reading it and wondering the same thing, I take Vitex for long, very heavy periods, and it helps. Weird but true. My 14 year old daughter has had heavy and very, very long periods, more often menstruating than not, since she began at age She has taken chaste tree tablets which help a small amount.

She has been checked for medical issues and none have been found. The only suggestions are for her to take the pill or the Mirena IUD. My question is whether there are other supplements and which form and brand of chaste tree is best for a teen? I wondered it this applies to post menopausal women with a mirena fitted but not on any oral HRT.? Thank you Lara. Any tips on how post menopausal women can boost their progesterone levels? Wanting to avoid oral HRT if all possible.

Wondered if topical form was worth considering….. I have taken agnus castes daily for five years. I have had the progesterone Mirena coil for the past three. Do you think I should stop the agnus castus? I never take a break from it and have a few quite major hormonal issues. Hi Lara I have a 43 days cycle. And irregular cycles. Recently i have started vitex for 25 days and not much effects until i decided to have a 5 days off and i started to get headaches and tiredness.

But no period on the day 43 day. Should i continue after the 5 days or should i stop. I saw signs of ovulation after i stop the vitex. Is it works for me or i should stop? When can I get my period back? I am still breastfeeding my 16 month old. Is it safe to take Vitex? Will it dry up my milk. I have used it once before to resolve estrogen dominance with great success. I have a short cycle now, too, at days.

My daughter is 16 and taking vitex. She is taking it to manage extreme menstrual pain. Is there anything else that I can give her that will help them. I dont want to put her in the pill. But she is in terrible pain the first day. What would be the best dosage of Vitex per day?

I am taking it for unexplained fertility, though my cycles and ovulation are regular every month. I do however experience about two days of spotting each month before the start of my period.

I just started taking Agnucaston about 10 days ago, which is 4mg of chaste tree powder per day. Is this a sufficient dosage? I just started taking Vitex today and I have been using a natural progesterone cream, can I still take Vitex? While using vitex you should stop using progesterone.

Hello dear Laura, Happy New Year!!! I have taken four month Vitex, for ovulation reasons, and PMS symptoms. But i still experience issues with pms, insomnia, irritability, headaches.

I also take other supplements recommended by you from magnesium, to B6, to zinc, to ashwaganda, iodine. I see some improvements of course, not major, but still.

My question-i want to do another four month with Vitex …what is your suggestion? I forgot to mention, that my prolactin levels has been high in the past i was diagnosed with pituitary adenoma.

NOw i am glad i found you, and have your book, Last year i had blood test done, it was couple of days before my period, and prolactin was a but high. Thats when i started my four months Vitex treatment. But during period i am usually calm. This time was worse! ELI — Yes, Dr. My gyn just prescribed lo dose bc pill for peri symptoms all related to mood. My thyroid tested normal, no hormone levels taken. Will vitex alleviate mood swings in peri?

I also read about progesterone cream but am not schedule oriented enough to remember when and when not to use. Read Rescue Prescription for Perimenopause. I have been giving vitex to my 12 year old who started her period 6 months ago. Her period was previously heavy flow and terrible cramps, acne and pms. With vitex, her acne improves and her period gets lighter, and little cramps. But, she would spot in between cycles while on vitex. Should I stop giving her vitex?

What other supplements would you recommend for terrible cramps and pms? I appreciate your advice. I am 33 years old. My husband and I have been trying to have children for over a year now with no success.

A friend of mine suggested taking Vitex. I took mg everyday as suggested on the bottle for 4 months. My period has never been regular but I also wouldnt say irregular either. I noticed during this time my period was very erratic, I developed several lumps on my breast, my mood seemed depressed and also got headaches.

I have been off for close to three months now and have been on my period for almost three weeks now. However the lumps have gone away and headaches are gone as well. Any suggestions? Thank you for your response. I think I have post pill pcos. My cycle before the pill came every month. Now I am married and wanting to start having kids soon. Would it be okay to take vitex with the other supplements?

I have been taking it for 2. Should I stop taking it completely now or wean off slowly? Hi I have been taking vitex for two weeks and was due for my period 3 days ago as my cycle is usually 28 days.

I feel a total difference in my cognitive activity and mood. My dose is mg 1x per day, is this too high? Is it ok to take Vitex and a prenatal vitamin at the same time? I was just recommend to give vitex to my 14 yr old girl. She has not yet started menstruation and her emotions are so low, she is so sad and frustrated.

Is there something safer for her to take to balance her hormone ups and downs? She has a healthy diet and takes a teen vitamin, fish oil and probiotics at present.

I took Vitex for a while and loved it! Working on it though. I am perimenopausal and recently ws referred to a gyno for an ovarian cyst with septum which she wanted to remove but I asked for a couple of months as I knew it would go. Also had alot of bleeding and clots every few months.

That knocked me around quite a bit. An ECG revealed a reading which they said usually had to do with medicines or supplements.. Im not sure now if I should continue with supplements and if vitex is good in my situation. My gp did prescribe bioidenticle progesterone on my request but I havent started yet as I thought Id like the iron infusion to work properly before I have another bleed….. Is there anything I can do to avoid this? Hi I just ordered your book.. Good morning Lara, What is the dosage of Vitex you recommend for irregular too often period?

I take it as prescribed 2 capsules in the morning on empty stomach mg capsule, 3 mg agnuside. Been taking it for a couple of months and so far and had two periods in the last month…Should I reduce the dosage?

Or keep taking it as it starts working when taken during longer chunks of time? Thanks a lot in advance! A lot of people in the PCOS community use it. Hope that helps! I got spotting a week after period finished. I just requested my library carry this! I have been on vitex since I read it in your book more than 2 years ago. My problem is I simply cant stop taking it because half my hair falls out back and temples 3 months after stopping- every time!

Vitex gave me immediate relief first time i started taking it, pms dissapeared completely. I dont know what to do! I am so afraid of loosing my hair again. All symtoms reappear as well.. Have you had patients like me? What do you tell them to do? Please help me! I started Vitex to help increase my luteal phase I normally start spotting days post O. I took my first dose on day 5 and ovulated on day I started spotting on day 22 only 6 days after O.

Feeling a little discouraged and wondering if this is normal for the first cycle using Vitex or if this is a sign that it might not be for me. Would love any input!! I have a history of 2 year post pill amenorrhea. Last year I began working with my GP, a gynaecologist and a fertility naturopath to try and solve it.

I have tried a whole bunch of different treatments, none of which brought on my period naturally. During this time I did have withdrawal bleeds. I have just finished my period on the last of this pill pack and I want to try and get things going naturally again. How long should I wait to start taking vitex? In theory, it should be fine to combine chaste tree vitex and natural progesterone capsules.

Another good option for breast pain is iodine. Please read Why I prescribe iodine for breast pain. So I started using vitex because a friend said it worked for hormonal headaches.

Anyways with in that week and a half There were activities in the bedroom? I want to take Vitex to get my period back. Her acne disappeared within about two months, and skin complexion improved over all.

BUT — Since it does keep hormones in balance, it can possibly lengthen your period too long if you take it during flow, so I lay off it during menstruation, and resume once it has ended. Hormones control everything in your body — helping the pituitary is the key when your hormones are out of whack. But just like any prescription drug out there, Vitex may or may not work for you. Is mg enough? I just want to have a normal cycle. My last period was Provera induced 90 days long…..

Thank you for such a wonderful article. I am 47 yo and used Vitex regularly for 10 years, in my late 30s I started suffering from awful PMS, super long cycles, and many other awful symptoms until I found this wonderful herb.

It completely changed my life regulating my cycles and improving my PMS symptoms. Unfortunately now, I am 47 and after a saliva test I realized that my progesterone and estrogen levels had dropped significantly so I decided to start using Bio-identical hormones. The thing is that I can only use the progesterone cream only couple weeks a month since I still have periods, and after my period is gone and I am not using it, I feel terrible.

I think it is because my progesterone is low and it is not balancing my estrogen, so I have estrogen dominance symptoms, like hypothyroidism… extreme fatigue, mental fog, anxiety, etc. Or maybe take it the two weeks when I am not using the progesterone cream?

Thank you so much for your advice in advance!! You should be able to take vitex on HRT protocols, but always check with your prescribing physician. Hi, I started Vitex in late November of 6wks or so after a miscarriage. I had irregular cycles all my Life. It took 3 months to fully work, but now my cycles are 28days like clockwork. I just suffered another miscarriage in late May.

Vitex has improved my cycle and it was easy to get pregnant only 4 months after starting it. My big question is this: How long can you take Vitex before it loses efficacy? Sometimes taking due bf period. Please advise on efficacy. It depends on your cycles and how your body reacts. There are not set answers for any of this because everyone has different physiology. How about myo inositol? Hi Mary — I would like to know why does vitex couse sever acne. I have been using it since april and started to get acne sever.

Before trying vitex I did not have acne. Iam using vitex for pms and past miscarriege. What would I recomend me to do? Thnx for your time in reading my letter. Been TTC our second for 2. I took vitex for 1 mounth in I had my first BFP in the same mounth in years but ended in a menstrual miscarriage.

But at the same time vitex made me gain a lot of weight, some light acnee and very late ovulation 22 dpo. Is there a combination of supplements that I could use with vitex in order not to have so late ovulation because of the it and not to gain so much weight I never had problems with weight or weight gain. Or maybe de the dose was to high for me? Taking just mg could help with the symptoms? I cannot give you health advice specific to your circumstances unless I know your health history and you are a client of mine.

I took the depo shot on Aug 4th and it gave me really bad side effects. And I came across vitex, will this help flush out the depo hormones? Hi, I normally notice breast pain at 14days for my cycle which is my ovulation time and it continues till my next period. Please can vitex work on it. That is typically due to low progesterone in the luteal phase, and vitex can help, but best to determine why levels are low and why the symptoms are occurring.

Hi Mary, Thanks for your good work. I just want to know if vitex can correct what my body is going through right now. For the past 6 months, I noticed after my period which last for days after a very heavy and painful flow with clots ,I usually have this water discharge that I have to use a sanitary pad for anothdays.

Plshat can be the cause for of this and can vitex cure this anormaly as it has never been like this wit body system before. Hi Ladies, I thought my story might help someone. My hormones went completely out of wack about a year ago, my cycles decreased from 30 to 21 days and I was feeling nauseous a lot of the time.

I had hardly any PMS symptoms no moodiness, no cramps, no nausea and my period is back to where it always used to be. I really wish I had decided to try Vitex sooner. I know that reasearch on taking vitex while breastfeeding is limited.

Would you recommend this herb to someone showing signs of hormonal imbalance with irregular periods, ttc and still breast feeding a two year old? Also, since vitex is not safe during pregnancy but there is a two week wait period where pregnancy is unknown, it is still recommend to take daily while ttc?

I purchased mg Vitex Whole Foods brand. I took one capsule yesterday in the late evening. I immediately started light cramping. I woke up this morning with light bleeding. It seems my cycle has started. I have been diagnosed with PCOS hormone imbalance. My previous cycle was days. I do experience long irregular cycles. Is it normal to experience bleeding after 1 dose? Hi,my menses has a regular cycle but blackish in colour and scanty.

Did hormone test my prolactin was very high from the normal range. I just got vitex fruit vegetarian capsule. And also B6 and magnesium Am I good to go with them? I had these same type of issues where my cramping just kept getting worse, and I was super irregular all month long.

I went to the gyn and he put me on hormonal birth control temporarily to try to balance my hormones. After I stopped taking them per his suggested time of a couple of months, it just went back to how it had been.

After some web research, I decided to try out Vitex. It was crazy how soon I actually got into a regular cycle. I believe I took mg a day, though I think that is more than suggested I think that I could only find mg capsules at the time.

Three months later, I was pregnant. I was so nervous to wean off of it when I found out that I was expecting. I had had a miscarriage previously, so I was scared of a repeat.

However, I followed the directions to wean from it- that baby just started kindergarten this year. Hi am 45 years o my period it was regular after its not regular.

Now I wont your advise about Vitex how its work for me before I started what you sagast me Hopefully Iwill get good news! Thax your time to reading my letter. Will this help me? Likely vitex will not be the one cure for migraines, but it may help normalize progesterone levels. Hi Mary! I would like to try Vitex.

Problem is, I work at night shift. Since my day was the other way around, can I take vitex at night when I wake up or at morning before I sleep? TIA for your advise! Probably at night would best best. Working at night can unfavorably shift your circadian rhythm and hormones. I have started taking wellwoman conception and folic acid ,I have got a fertility smoothies pack which has green powder, maca powder and royal jelly to help me with my nutrition also I chaged my diet totally.

I want to start vitex today becasue i want to start trying by January I have the mg how many can I start with my cycle has been days. I would be happy to get some advice. However, after 30 my period became much lighter. When I did not achieve a positive pregnancy test result I started focusing more careful on my ovulation and using an ovulation kit. I read in the Internet about this herb and I would like too ask what would you suggest me in this case?

How exactly should I drink the pills and how often. Of course, I will visit a doctor, too, but honestly, I would prefer a natural solution for the issue if I can rather than having prescribed any hormones or pills by a doctor. Svetlana, I cannot give you health advice over the internet other than what is included in the post. I started taking Vitex about a year ago. My endocrinologist I have diabetes started me on Metformin — mostly for fertility purposes, but it has all kinds of benefits.

My cycle started to regulate. Then a midwife recommended Vitex, and as soon as I started, I was getting day cycles nearly every month for the first time in my life. My husband has had multiple good semen analyses. My hormones have been tested several times, in-range. Hello, Thank you for your article. I have been taking vitex for 2 weeks along with maca root in home of regulating my periods which are very infrequent. Do you know if it is safe to take with mugwort?

I presume so but cannot find any information regarding this. Thank you for all of the awesome information! I had amenorrhea for 4 years after a dramatic weight loss, and the doctors were no help.

I began taking a vital tincture and 2 months later my period was back! Hi, am Esther. I want to know if Vitex can really help me with these problems please? I have unexplained infertility as well. It does work for infertility if you have estrogen dominance.

I typically have day cycles… usually 28, though sometimes 27 these days. I was diagnosed with POF when I was 18 and I went 10 years without a period and then suddenly bled like there was no tomorrow for a full year. Then boop. Nothing for the last year. Never thought I would want that, haha. I have been trying for a child for 3 years and have no success.

I never get periods naturally therefore I take Norethisterone Progesterone pills. Could you please suggest if it is okay to take progesterone pills along with vitex? I was taking Yasmin for 4 month to regulate my period. I already come off the pill last month. But i dont have period till today, almost 40 days since my last period i plan to try Vitex. When can i start to take Vitex?

Should i wait till i got my period or can take anytime. Hi Sumathy, you can start the vitex anytime now. I am 25 yrs old now and my last period was in December of and before that it was in July of I am starting to wonder if the irregularity of my period is due to my weight gain or do I have a hormone imbalance. I recently just bought a bottle of Vitex natures way mg. I was wondering will this help with my situation because I did not like the birth control I prefer a more natural way…and another question I have is can I take vitex also with echinacea?

DJVW: I cannot give you health advice over the internet or advise about your condition without knowing your health history. Vitex in the recommended dosage, mg can help regulate periods, but it is unlikely to be the magic bullet without addressing the entire endocrine system.

Hi there! I have an oestrogen deficiency as well as progesterone double whammy. Would Vitex be okay for me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am wondering if the vitex will increase the growth as prolactin or the milk stimulating hormone is what I believe can be associated with Chasteberry. From what I have read on the hormones and prolactin, I think it sounds like Vitex will be something that may balance the pituitary?

I am hoping it can as this would be a great thing. Any thoughts? It would be ideal to work with someone who could advise you for your particular needs. I am a yr old AA woman that had been diagnosed with five uterine fibroids.

I have one large fibroid the size of a grapefruit while the others are rather smaller. My physician appears more keen to having a surgical procedure, cryoabaltion, or sit-and-wait methods over holistic methods. So, I scoured the web and discovered the benefits of Vitex for women who suffer from fibroids.

I purchased mg Vitex capsules and will be taking 3 in the morning to see how my body responds to the herb. I read the previous posts and very few have discussed uterine fibroids.

Wobenzyme is another. It was recently suggested that I try Vitex — I am 55 and menopausal. Cycles have stopped, and have been doing pretty well. My acupuncturist had me using progesterone cream to help with some of the symptoms i was having — mostly just hot flashes.

She then put me on a supplement called Progestomend. I noticed that I began to gain some weight — and I was feeling just not myself.

I felt I was getting too much progesterone I opted to stop the Progestomend, and within 2 weeks began to feel better. I was talking to the owner of our local healthfood store about my issues, and she suggested taking Vitex, to help balance things out. My only concern is I am afraid that I will be yet again increasing my progesterone levels.

I was told years ago that I am insulin resistant. I know what I need to do for the blood work, but just want to make sure that Vitex will help actually balance my hormones. Sorry for the long post! Hi Dottie, honestly I have never recommended vitex for a menopausal woman. That said, no one herb or supplement is a magic bullet. You correctly stated that the entire endocrine system thyroid, hormones, even blood sugar levels must be supported together, and you may need hormone testing to see exactly what would work for your body.

Vitex often needs to be combined with other herbs. Best to work with a practitioner who can help you. I have been taking vitex for about 2 weeks and i know it takes a few months to show full effects.

I had a minor surgery last year nothing to do with any reproductive organs and have had a lot of problems with periods since. Between going from 80 days with nothing to spotting for 2 months. I am wondering if vitex will work for me as i am going to start ttc in a few months time. Thanks in advance. Hi, i have been taking vitex for 9 days now, im currently 14 weeks late and waiting to see a gynecologist, it is possible that i have pcos i had some bloods done a few weeks ago and but my results show that they are quite normal, how long could it be until i see results of taking vitex.

My periods have been regular and normal 28 day cycle. We started TTC 3 months ago. I was wondering if I can take Vitex the whole cycle. Hi, do you think Vitex is effective in regulating hormones for fertility after 45? Margaret, it is unlikely vitex is causing weight gain. My cycles are regular days. This cycle has been almost perfect no pms or cramping, just sore nipples which are starting to subside.

I started taking vitex 2 wks ago 2 days before ovulation and now on day 28 of my cycle with no signs of flow in sight. Is this a good and Is it a good idea to take this with endometriosis and should I continue taking vitex for the full 3 months and then take a break?

Just hoping it helps with endometriosis and fertility. I just want to ask can I take vitex with birth control pills?

I am oestrogen dominant. Any birth control progesterone pills I have taken in the past eg micro pill or marena coil, have completely balanced my moods, but unfortunately came with their own set of side effects resulting in me coming off them. I seem to spend my life googling trying to find a solution to my pms, trying nutrition, lifestyle etc, but never really found anything that works.

I bought this tincture vitex agnus castus and took mg daily. Low and behold, my PMS symptoms are significantly reduced! No bloating i would look like I am 6 months pregnant migraines practically gone.

I was so happy to finally find a solution to my godforsaken pms. But very soon after I had to stop taking them as I was getting really bad stomach issues, Flatulence embarrassing! So my question to you is; is there anything I can do to help with my stomach problems? Hi Julie, your stomach issues may not be due to vitex. Also tested low for progesterone last month post ovulation. Also have a big cystic acne bump coming in on my chin.

Should I stop taking it, or should I try to continue through the whole cycle? Can these be used together? Kori, as mentioned in the article, it can take 3 months for vitex to begin working. And yes, you can use it with progessence. So how long should I wait to ovulate before I stop taking it? I want to ovulate. Maybe I would be better off only using the Progessence Plus? Also, thank you so much for your quick response. Now that it was been over 15 months since our youngest son was born, I am ready for my life to be back on track.

However, my hormones are not wanting to level out.
